Case Study: Audio System Upgrade at Whitesburg Baptist Church

FOH Magazine.png

Whitesburg Baptist Church, located in Huntsville, Alabama, was facing challenges with their outdated sound system. The existing system, which had been in place for 15 years, was struggling with issues of clarity, coverage, and low-frequency response, particularly affecting their traditional services with a choir and orchestra. As part of a multi-phase renovation, improving the audio experience was a key priority to better serve their growing congregation.

The Challenge:

Solution:

We partnered with Meyer Sound to design and implement a customized loudspeaker system tailored to the specific needs of Whitesburg Baptist Church. After demoing several systems, we recommended Meyer Sound’s LEOPARD® compact linear line array loudspeakers, along with other Meyer Sound solutions, including 2100-LFC™ low-frequency control elements and MJF-208™ stage monitors. Our goal was to enhance audio intelligibility, ensure full coverage across the worship space, and provide the necessary low-end energy, particularly for the choir and musicians on stage.

Installation &
Impact

We completed the installation of the new system within a week, ensuring minimal disruption to the church’s operations. The result was a dramatic improvement in audio quality throughout the worship space. The new system provided the clarity, coverage, and low-frequency response that were previously lacking, allowing both the choir and band to perform without interference from excessive stage noise. Musicians reported a much cleaner sound environment, and the congregation immediately noticed the improved intelligibility and overall sound clarity.

Client Testimonial

"The musicians coming in for the first rehearsal, the looks on their faces, the ‘wow’ about how great it sounded, how big the drums sounded, and how full the band was sounding was nice to watch. Our congregation noticed from day one, the difference in the audio quality, and how clean the sound was in the room. It used to be really challenging; it’s become a lot easier with the new speakers and it’s really allowed us to clean up the room and get the clarity that we need to every seat in the congregation.”
